FOXBOROUGH, MA — For the second night in a row, country music star Zach Bryan took the stage at Robert Kraft's Gillette Stadium wearing a "Free Palestine" shirt, according to TMZ.com. The Saturday night performance followed a Friday show during which Bryan and his entire band wore pro-Palestinian shirts and jerseys.
The shirts and jerseys worn by the band were supplied by Wear the Peace, an organization that, according to TMZ.com, provides aid to Gazans through various programs and humanitarian initiatives. In addition to Bryan's "Free Palestine" shirt, other band members wore "Palestine" jerseys.
The drummer's shirt featured the name Hind Rajab on the back. Rajab was a 5-year-old Palestinian girl who was killed when the vehicle she was traveling in came under fire from the Israeli military, as reported by Al Jazeera.
The gesture carried particular significance given Kraft's previous involvement in the music industry. Kraft was influential in removing rapper Macklemore from Ed Sheeran's tour after Macklemore made pro-Palestinian remarks, according to TMZ.com.
Meanwhile, Sheeran's two shows at Gillette Stadium were canceled after a nor'easter struck the East Coast. The status of those performances remains unchanged.
Bryan, known for his song "Revival," has not publicly commented on the shirt or the band's attire. The two-night stand at Gillette Stadium marks the latest instance of musicians using their platform to make political statements, a trend that has drawn both support and criticism in recent months.
