911 Audio Reveals Witness Account of Fatal Stabbing

Emergency dispatch recordings released this week provide a detailed account of the chaotic moments following the fatal stabbing of Austin Metcalf in April 2025, offering new insight into how witnesses responded as the violent incident unfolded.

The 911 audio, obtained by TMZ.com, captures a friend of Metcalf reporting the stabbing to emergency dispatchers. The caller informed the operator that his friend had been stabbed in the chest and provided a description of the assailant when asked if he could see the individual responsible.

According to the recording, the witness described the suspect as a Black male wearing an Essentials sweatshirt and blue sweatpants. This description matches the clothing visible in body camera footage from the arrest of Karmelo Anthony, who was apprehended at the scene while reportedly claiming self-defense.

The caller expressed uncertainty about whether the suspect still possessed the weapon but assured the dispatcher that the immediate threat had been neutralized. When pressed by the operator to explain his assessment, the witness indicated that coaches at the location had physically restrained the individual and appeared to have the situation under control.

This newly released call represents a different perspective from previously published emergency audio from the incident. Earlier recordings captured the desperate efforts of bystanders performing CPR on Metcalf, with Good Samaritans pleading with the victim to survive as they administered life-saving measures.

The contrasting nature of the two recordings illustrates the multiple scenes playing out simultaneously in the aftermath of the stabbing—some witnesses focused on describing the suspect and securing the scene, while others worked frantically to save Metcalf's life.

Karmelo Anthony was arrested following the April 2025 incident and subsequently faced murder charges. The legal proceedings concluded recently with Anthony's conviction, resulting in a sentence exceeding three decades in prison. The case drew significant attention due to the circumstances surrounding the stabbing and the defendant's claims of acting in self-defense.

The release of these 911 recordings provides the public with additional documentation of the tragic event, revealing how witnesses and first responders navigated the emergency as it developed. The audio serves as a sobering reminder of the rapid response required from both civilians and emergency personnel when violent incidents occur in community spaces.
