Prosecutors say the 32-year-old admitted assaulting her romantic partner, repeatedly harassing the victim and attempting to flee police. She faces a proposed four-year state prison sentence.
MAYS LANDING, N.J. — An Absecon woman has pleaded guilty to multiple criminal offenses stemming from a series of domestic violence incidents involving her romantic partner, including an assault that left the victim injured, repeated harassment and an attempt to flee police.
Dariana Gonzalez-Colon, 32, pleaded guilty October 23 before Superior Court Judge Daniel Kurkowski to third-degree aggravated assault against a domestic violence victim, fourth-degree stalking and fourth-degree resisting arrest by flight.
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, the plea agreement calls for a four-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison covering three pending criminal cases.
The charges stem from incidents that occurred in Absecon and Atlantic City between September and October 2025.
Victim Found Injured on Absecon Sidewalk
The first incident occurred September 15, 2025, when Absecon police responded to the intersection of New Jersey Avenue and Station Avenue following a report of a stolen motor vehicle.
Officers encountered a bystander who had discovered an injured woman lying on the sidewalk.
The victim told investigators that she had previously given Gonzalez-Colon, her romantic partner, permission to use her vehicle.
However, when the victim later asked for the car to be returned, Gonzalez-Colon became violent and assaulted her, according to prosecutors.
Authorities said Gonzalez-Colon then drove away in the victim's vehicle, leaving the injured woman behind.
During her guilty plea, Gonzalez-Colon admitted causing significant bodily injury to the victim during the confrontation.
Victim Reported Continued Harassment
Less than three weeks later, on October 2, 2025, Atlantic City police responded to a domestic dispute at 1501 Atlantic Avenue.
Officers encountered the same woman who had been assaulted in Absecon.
According to prosecutors, the victim reported that Gonzalez-Colon had continued harassing her on multiple occasions following the September assault.
The woman told police she feared Gonzalez-Colon would harm her.
Gonzalez-Colon subsequently admitted to repeatedly harassing the victim and placing her in fear for her safety.
Attempted to Flee Police at Motel
The third incident occurred October 11, 2025, when Absecon police officers conducting routine patrol spotted the victim's vehicle parked at a nearby Travelodge motel.
Officers contacted motel employees to determine whether the victim was staying there.
Staff informed police that the woman had checked out the previous day with Gonzalez-Colon.
Authorities were still seeking to formally process Gonzalez-Colon in connection with the September 15 assault.
When officers approached the vehicle, they found Gonzalez-Colon inside.
Police informed her that she was under arrest, but prosecutors said she exited the vehicle and attempted to run away.
Officers pursued Gonzalez-Colon on foot and apprehended her after a short chase.
During her plea hearing, she admitted fleeing from police on October 11.
Sentencing Scheduled for December
The guilty plea resolves three pending criminal cases against Gonzalez-Colon.
Under the negotiated agreement, prosecutors are seeking a combined four-year state prison sentence.
Sentencing is scheduled for December 8, 2026, before Judge Kurkowski.
The final sentence will be determined by the court.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced the guilty plea as part of its ongoing prosecution of domestic violence offenses.
