Texas prosecutors have formally charged Alaina Antoinnette James, professionally known as Bonnie Rotten, with assault causing bodily injury-family violence, a misdemeanor offense stemming from a domestic incident involving her husband, motorcycle builder and reality television personality Jesse James.
According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, the charge carries a maximum punishment of up to one year in jail if Bonnie Rotten is convicted. The case represents a significant escalation in legal proceedings that began with her arrest earlier this year.
The charges relate to a March incident at the couple's Texas residence. Prosecutors allege that Bonnie Rotten caused bodily injury to Jesse James by punching him, scratching his face and eye area, and biting his thumb, hand, or finger during the altercation.
Law enforcement deputies responded to the home following a reported domestic disturbance. According to a probable cause affidavit, Jesse James informed officers that Bonnie Rotten struck him multiple times and bit his thumb during the confrontation. Responding deputies documented visible injuries, including redness on his face and dark marks near one of his eyes.
Following her arrest, Bonnie Rotten was released on a three-thousand-dollar bond. A judge imposed several court-ordered conditions on her release, including designating Jesse James as a protected person in the case. The court order prohibits Bonnie Rotten from threatening, harassing, or assaulting him while the legal matter remains pending.
Despite the serious nature of the charges, the couple appears to remain together. Bonnie Rotten told TMZ that she and Jesse James continue their relationship following her arrest. She publicly demonstrated this commitment by sharing a Father's Day tribute to him over the weekend, suggesting the marriage remains intact despite the ongoing legal proceedings.
The formal filing of charges marks a critical juncture in the case, transitioning from the investigative phase to active prosecution. Bonnie Rotten now faces the prospect of trial and potential conviction on the misdemeanor assault charge, which could result in incarceration if prosecutors secure a guilty verdict or plea agreement.
Jesse James gained prominence as a motorcycle customizer and television personality, while Bonnie Rotten built her career in the adult entertainment industry before the couple married. The case continues to develop as both parties navigate the intersection of their public profiles and private legal challenges.
