Brittany Cartwright Addresses Restraining Order Against Jax Taylor

Brittany Cartwright broke her silence on Saturday, August 29, following a court decision that granted her a temporary restraining order against estranged husband Jax Taylor.

The 37-year-old reality television star addressed reporters in Los Angeles, offering reassurance to concerned fans. "Thanks [to fans] for the support," Cartwright told TMZ. When asked about her condition, she stated, "I'm OK!"

Cartwright declined to provide details about the protection order when questioned by the outlet.

A Los Angeles judge issued the temporary restraining order on Thursday, August 27, requiring Taylor, 47, to maintain a distance of 100 yards from Cartwright. The court denied her request for sole custody of their 5-year-old son, Cruz, pending a future hearing.

Court documents filed by Cartwright detail serious allegations spanning the duration of their relationship. She accused Taylor of "coercive control, financial abuse, emotional and psychological abuse, gaslighting and even physical violence perpetrated" throughout their marriage, which lasted from 2019 to 2024.

Among the allegations, Cartwright claimed Taylor exhibited physical violence during their marriage and allegedly threatened to "gut [her] like a fish."

The Vanderpump Rules alumna also referenced a recent incident at their son's school orientation on August 10, where Cruz's nanny and school administrators allegedly witnessed Taylor behaving in an "aggressive and hostile" manner toward her. Cartwright suggested in her filing that Taylor "has a tendency of not being able to control his anger and emotions."

In her court petition, Cartwright wrote that despite their separation of more than two years, the pattern of alleged abuse has continued in different forms. "Although Jax and I have now been separated for more than two years, his pattern of committing acts of domestic violence against me has not stopped," she stated in the filing. "During our relationship, his abuse included threats of physical violence, actual physical aggression, destruction of my property, degrading and humiliating verbal abuse, controlling behavior, invasion of my privacy and financial abuse."

She further alleged that Taylor now uses communications regarding their son to harass her, makes threats of public humiliation on social media, and confronts her during custody-related interactions.

Taylor, who is currently dating Lori Krebs, Cartwright's former publicist, responded to the allegations on Friday, August 28. In a statement to Us Weekly, he acknowledged past mistakes while disputing certain claims.

"I made a lot of mistakes and behaved in ways during that period of my life that I'm truly ashamed of and regret and take full responsibility for," Taylor told Us Weekly. "The person I was in 2024, during the darkest time of my life and at the height of my addiction, is not the person I am today."

Taylor noted his commitment to sobriety, stating he completed a 90-day treatment program in 2024 and has been sober for 1 year and 9 months. "I got help, went to treatment, and today I'm 1 year and 9 months sober. I've remained committed to treatment and therapy, working on myself and changing my life," he told Us Weekly.

While acknowledging some responsibility, Taylor maintained that he disputes certain allegations in Cartwright's petition. "There are allegations being made" that he "strongly dispute[s]," he told Us Weekly, adding that "the full story, context and evidence will be addressed where it belongs — in court."

Taylor stated his priorities remain his sobriety, mental health treatment, and being a father to Cruz. "I will respect the court's orders and the legal process," he told Us Weekly. "My focus continues to be my sobriety, working on my mental health, being the best father I can be to Cruz and moving forward in a healthy and responsible way."
