Comedian Margaret Cho Mocks Lindsey Graham After Death

Comedian Margaret Cho sparked controversy Sunday morning by posting a mocking TikTok video about Senator Lindsey Graham just hours after his death Saturday night.

The video, captioned "Bye gurl," featured Cho saying goodbye to Graham multiple times before referencing longstanding rumors about the senator's sexuality. "From the closet to the coffin. Real seamless," Cho said in the clip, according to TMZ.com.

Graham died Saturday night, with his communications director stating Sunday that preliminary examination indicates he died from a torn aorta. TMZ.com obtained photographs of the senator being transported from his home on a gurney with paramedics rendering aid.

In her video, Cho also referenced Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's health issues. The video was posted before a press release revealed McConnell was recovering nicely in the hospital. Cho suggested that health issues come in threes, then closed her eyes as if making a wish. While she did not name anyone specifically, online speculation suggested she was hoping President Donald Trump would be next.

The comedian's response stands in stark contrast to tributes shared by numerous political figures. President Donald Trump, former President Joe Biden, and former President George W. Bush all honored Graham following news of his death.

The video represents a sharp departure from the traditional practice of refraining from criticism immediately following a public figure's death. Cho made clear through her post that she felt no obligation to observe such conventions regarding the late senator.
