Emma Roberts and Cody John have officially become husband and wife following an intimate wedding ceremony in Idaho.
The 35-year-old actress and John, 36, exchanged vows on Saturday, July 24, according to photographs obtained by online gossip site DeuxMoi. The groom wore a burgundy suit while Roberts appeared in a one-shouldered ivory gown with a long train, surrounded by white roses during the ceremony.
Among the attendees was Roberts' aunt, Julia Roberts, who was photographed in Idaho alongside her husband, Danny Moder, prior to the nuptials. Neither the 58-year-old Oscar winner nor the newlyweds have publicly commented on the ceremony or shared additional details.
The wedding comes nearly two years after John proposed to the American Horror Story star. Roberts announced her engagement in July 2024 with a playful Instagram post that referenced her mother Kelly Cunningham's tendency to share family news on social media.
"Putting this here before my mom tells everyone ❤️," Roberts wrote at the time, alluding to past incidents where Cunningham had revealed private information about her daughter's life online.
Cunningham, who shares Roberts with ex Eric Roberts, previously disclosed in 2020 that the actress was expecting her son Rhodes before Roberts had made the announcement herself. The incident prompted Roberts to temporarily block her mother on Instagram.
"I was keeping my pregnancy pretty low-key but unfortunately my mother has Instagram. Which, mothers and Instagram, it's a bad combination," Roberts recalled during an October 2020 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. "It started slow with a Google alert on me. … It led to interacting with my fans and just thanking them for all their pregnancy wishes."
She continued: "It was a disaster, and I found it all out on a plane, so I couldn't get to her. I couldn't call her or attack her. We kind of laughed. We kind of got into a fight. I blocked her at one point. … It's a good story to tell the baby."
Roberts shares Rhodes, now 5, with ex Garrett Hedlund. The Aquamarine actress and Hedlund, 41, separated in early 2022. In another social media incident, Cunningham shared the first photograph showing Rhodes' face in February 2023 without her daughter's permission.
"When your mom posts your sons [sic] face without asking," Roberts wrote on Instagram at the time regarding her then-2-year-old son. "But, you love them both so whatever."
Roberts began dating John privately in 2022 while navigating single motherhood. The actress has long maintained a preference for keeping her romantic relationships out of the public eye.
"I never want to talk about relationships I'm in or that are ending or have ended. It's hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience," she told Cosmopolitan in May 2019. "Growing up is hard. Sometimes it makes me sad that I can't have a private moment. Because of Twitter and Instagram, there's a whole other element where everybody can comment on what you're doing, and no one knows the real story."
Before her relationship with John, Roberts dated Hedlund and American Horror Story costar Evan Peters. Following those relationships, the actress decided to stop dating fellow actors.
"One day the veil was lifted and I didn't want to date actors anymore," she told Flaunt magazine in 2024. "It's hard, I think, for two actors to be together. I'm trying to think if I've seen it done successfully. Also, the actors I've been with border on method actors, and that is something that I think is extremely difficult to be in a relationship with — at least for me, especially the characters that they were playing."
