GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — The Galloway Elks Lodge will open its doors to the public Saturday, Aug. 15, for an afternoon of food, live entertainment and community fun as part of a membership drive and fundraiser.
The Elks of Galloway Lodge No. 2845 will host a Luau beginning at 2 p.m. at its lodge at 120 S. New York Road (Route 9).
A $15 donation includes food, music and activities throughout the day, with proceeds supporting the lodge's charitable programs and community initiatives.
The event is designed to introduce residents to the Elks organization while raising money for local causes.
"The Luau will be a great way for non-members to find out what the Elks are all about and how they contribute to the local community," organizers said.
As part of the membership drive, anyone who applies to join the Elks during the event will receive half off the normal application fee.
Entertainment will include appearances by 103.7 WMGM Rocks, featuring music, games and opportunities to win concert tickets, followed by a live performance from The Matrix beginning at 5 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and tropical attire to match the luau theme.
In addition to the food included with admission, the lodge will also offer 13 clams for $5 during the event.
Organizers expect the family-friendly fundraiser to bring together current members, prospective members and residents looking to learn more about the Elks and the organization's community service efforts throughout Atlantic County.
Additional parking will be available next door at Atlantic Community Charter School.
