Our community is one step closer to seeing major improvements on a key Middle Township roadway. The Cape May County Board of Commissioners has approved contract documents and authorized the advertisement for bids for Phase 2 of the Goshen Road (CR 615) Resurfacing Improvements project.
This latest action, approved at the Board's June 14 meeting, allows the county to move forward with a competitive bidding process for the next stage of work on this vital corridor that serves residential neighborhoods, local businesses, and connects communities throughout Middle Township.
The first phase of the Goshen Road project tackled reconstruction from Dias Creek Road northward, delivering extensive drainage upgrades, removal of deteriorated concrete slabs, and replacement of curbs and sidewalks before new asphalt paving was completed. Phase 2 will build on that foundation, bringing similar improvements to additional sections of the roadway.
"This resolution represents an important step in completing the Goshen Road Project for Middle Township residents and businesses," Commissioner Director Leonard C. Desiderio said in a statement. "The comprehensive approach to repaving and improving drainage on this key county artery will improve safety and mobility for the communities, businesses and public facilities that rely on this route daily."
The project reflects the county's ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and reliable infrastructure for both residents and visitors. By extending pavement life and enhancing overall road conditions, the improvements will benefit everyone who travels this important route.
Bids for the Phase 2 work will be advertised in accordance with applicable public contracting laws. Once a contractor is selected, work is expected to begin on the next phase of improvements that will complete the comprehensive upgrade of this essential Middle Township corridor.
