Jared McCain has a message for fans hoping to hear original music from him: not now. The Oklahoma City Thunder guard told TMZ Sports he has no plans to release original songs at this time, though he left the door open for the future.
TMZ Sports caught up with the 22-year-old at LAX recently and asked whether he had considered dropping original tracks. "I probably wouldn't at the moment, no. I'm too focused on basketball right now. But you never know in the future. Maybe one day," McCain told TMZ Sports.
McCain's reach extends well beyond the court. He holds more than 5.5 million followers on TikTok alone, making him one of the league's more prominent social media personalities.
On the basketball side, McCain is preparing for his first full season in Oklahoma City after being traded in February. The 16th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft appeared in 30 games for the Thunder, averaging 9.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game with his new squad.
Oklahoma City enters the season as the title favorite in many sportsbooks, and McCain is expected to play a significant role if the team fulfills those expectations. For now, any musical ambitions will remain on hold as he concentrates on the upcoming campaign.
