Jon Gosselin's Wife Shows Support for Stepson Collin

Stephanie Lebo, wife of Jon Gosselin, offered public encouragement to her stepson Collin Gosselin on Sunday, July 5, as the young man continues to navigate his estrangement from his mother, Kate Gosselin.

Lebo, 38, shared her support through her Instagram Story, reposting photographs that Collin, 22, had posted in celebration of the Fourth of July. The images depicted Collin enjoying time on a boat in Newport Beach, California.

"Love seeing you live the life you always deserved," Lebo wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, July 5, according to Us Weekly. She added, "And again, LIVE YOUR LIFE!"

The show of support reflects the complex family dynamics that have persisted for years following the dissolution of the Gosselin family's reality television presence. Collin's Fourth of July post struck a patriotic and reflective tone, expressing gratitude for those who have served the nation.

"Happy Fourth of July!" Collin captioned his photos on Sunday. "Grateful for the people who have fought, served, and worked to expand freedom across generations so that we can call this country home. Feeling blessed to celebrate our history, and commitment to building a nation where people of every background, culture, and community can belong, thrive, and be free. We may be imperfect at times, but nonetheless we should strive as a people to build back better and show strength as a nation."

He concluded his message with, "Freedom is something to cherish, protect, and extend to everyone. Happy 250th."

The social media exchange arrives as Collin prepares to publish his memoir, titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. The book will provide an insider perspective on his experiences during and after his family's time on the TLC reality series Jon & Kate Plus 8.

The early 2000s program documented Jon, 49, and Kate, 51, as they raised twins Mady and Cara, 25, and sextuplets Collin, Aaden, Joel, Leah, Alexis and Hannah, all 22. After the couple's 2009 divorce, the show was retitled Kate Plus 8.

"My life was always broadcast to millions, but what was actually happening in my life was never shown — in fact, much of it was deliberately kept hidden," Collin told Us Weekly. "For years, other people told my story through headlines, television episodes and public speculation."

He continued, "Now, finally, I'm sharing what was really happening behind the scenes. This book is about truth, survival, resilience and finding my voice after years of being silenced. If my story helps even one person feel less alone or gives them the courage to tell their own, then every difficult page was worth writing."

The estrangement between Collin and Kate dates back to when he was sent to a behavioral institute at age 11. He remained in the facility for two years before moving in with Jon, who gained custody of his son. Collin has publicly stated that Kate institutionalized him to prevent him from speaking about alleged abuse, including claims of physical punishment and confinement. Kate has denied these allegations, stating that she sent him to the facility due to "violent and unpredictable behavior."

Kate recently addressed Collin's allegations in TikTok comments, discussing whether she planned to pursue legal action against her son. "The rules are different for ppl in the public eye. I consulted a high power LA attorney (you've definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that's what he said," she wrote, according to Us Weekly. "The courts don't honor it if you're in the public eye :(."

Lebo's public support for Collin signals the ongoing family divisions that have persisted in the years since the Gosselin family's reality television fame. As Collin prepares to share his story in his own words through his forthcoming memoir, the family's complicated history continues to unfold in the public sphere.
