Duane "Keffe D" Davis, the man convicted of masterminding the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, was sentenced Tuesday to 40 years behind bars, and a never-before-seen mug shot obtained by TMZ.com captures him with his eyes closed while holding a booking slip that lists his name, Offender ID number, and a parole date of "6/10/2026."
The booking photo was taken by the Nevada Department of Corrections, according to TMZ.com. Online records cited by the outlet indicate the image was snapped while Davis was serving a sentence of 16 to 40 months for battery by a prisoner, a period that occurred while he was incarcerated awaiting trial for the Shakur murder in Las Vegas.
Davis was first arrested by police in September 2023 and has remained in custody since that time. The mug shot surfaced just one day after his sentencing hearing, where a judge imposed the four-decade prison term.
Following a two-week trial, a jury convicted Davis of first-degree murder. Prosecutors alleged that Davis orchestrated the drive-by shooting as retaliation for an earlier beating that night involving Tupac, Suge Knight, and their associates, who had attacked Davis's nephew.
The newly released image, which TMZ.com described as showing Davis looking unhappy, aligns with his demeanor during Tuesday's sentencing hearing when the judge handed down the 40-year term. Davis's parole date on the booking slip, 6/10/2026, is now effectively moot given the length of the sentence imposed this week.
