The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has issued a measles exposure warning for visitors to Universal Studios Hollywood following confirmation that an infected individual spent time at the theme park last month.
According to health officials, the infected visitor was present at Universal Studios Hollywood on July 26. Anyone who entered the park between 10 AM and 9 PM on that date is being advised to verify their vaccination status and remain vigilant for potential symptoms through August 16.
A spokesperson for Universal Studios Hollywood addressed the situation in a statement to TMZ.com, saying: "The safety and security of our guests and team members is our highest priority. We were recently made aware that a guest with a confirmed case of measles visited Los Angeles County, including our theme park, on July 26, 2026. We are working with the Department of Public Health and are following their guidance."
Measles presents a significant public health concern due to its highly contagious nature. The virus spreads through airborne transmission when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and can linger in an area for up to two hours after the infected individual has departed. Health officials warn that individuals should watch for characteristic symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a distinctive rash.
The exposure alert arrives amid a concerning nationwide surge in measles infections. More than 2,300 cases have been documented across the United States this year, according to public health data.
The measles warning comes at a time when vaccination policy has become a subject of intense national debate. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently appeared on CNN's "State of the Union" program on Sunday, where anchor Dana Bash pressed him to use his position to encourage parents to vaccinate their children against measles. Kennedy ultimately delivered such a message directly to the camera, though only after persistent urging from Bash during the contentious interview.
Individuals who visited Universal Studios Hollywood during the specified timeframe on July 26 and have concerns about potential exposure should consult with their healthcare provider regarding their vaccination history and any symptoms that may develop.
