Someone in our community is $3 million richer after Tuesday night's Mega Millions drawing, with the winning ticket sold at the Acme on Delaware Avenue in North Wildwood.
The Cape May County winner matched all five white balls in the July 14 drawing, joining two other multi-million dollar winners from across the country. A ticket sold in Georgia claimed $4 million, while a Florida player won $2 million. Together, the three tickets accounted for $9 million in prizes, according to the Mega Millions website.
The winning numbers drawn Tuesday were: 2, 4, 10, 48, 56, and Megaball 22.
While no one matched all six numbers to claim the jackpot, the top prize continues to grow. Friday night's drawing on July 17, 2026 will feature an estimated $672 million jackpot with a cash value of $293.3 million—making it the 10th largest Mega Millions jackpot in history.
The last time someone won the Mega Millions grand prize was March 17, when an Ohio player took home $60 million.
How to Play
Mega Millions tickets now cost $5 each and automatically include a multiplier feature that can boost non-jackpot prizes up to 10 times their original amount. These changes took effect April 8, 2025.
Players choose five white ball numbers between 1 and 70, plus a Mega Ball number ranging from 1 to 24. Quick Pick options allow the machine to randomly generate your numbers. You don't need to be a U.S. citizen or state resident to purchase tickets.
Drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. In New Jersey, tickets purchased through Jackpocket must be bought by 9:15 p.m. on drawing nights, though deadlines vary by state and retailer.
Matching just the Mega Ball wins $10. Matching all five white balls without the Mega Ball typically wins at least $2 million outside of California. The odds of hitting the jackpot stand at 290,472,336-to-1.
Where to Buy Tickets
Tickets are available at convenience stores, gas stations, and supermarkets throughout New Jersey. Some airport terminals also sell lottery tickets. Online purchases through Jackpocket are available in New Jersey and 15 other states, allowing players to select numbers, place orders, and view tickets digitally.
Mega Millions is offered in 45 states plus the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands. Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah do not participate.
Privacy and Payouts
New Jersey winners can remain anonymous under a law signed by Gov. Phil Murphy. Other states require public disclosure of winners' names and hometowns.
Jackpot winners choose between an annuity paid over 30 years (with annual increases of 5%) or a smaller lump-sum cash option. The current cash value represents $293.3 million of the $672 million advertised jackpot.
