Out of the Darkness Walk Returns to Atlantic City

Our community will once again come together for a powerful cause this fall, as the Out of the Darkness Walk returns to Hard Rock Atlantic City on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The event, which has become New Jersey's largest walk dedicated to suicide prevention and awareness, will mark its seventh consecutive year at the iconic Atlantic City venue.

The annual walk brings together survivors of suicide loss, those who struggle with mental health challenges, and community members committed to breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness. Participants walk together to honor loved ones, raise funds for suicide prevention programs, and demonstrate that no one facing mental health struggles needs to face them alone.

Hard Rock Atlantic City has served as the event's home base since 2020, providing a central gathering point for walkers from across the state. The venue's location and facilities have helped the walk grow into the state's premier suicide prevention event, drawing thousands of participants each year.

The Out of the Darkness Walks are organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which funds research, creates educational programs, advocates for public policy, and supports survivors of suicide loss. Funds raised through the walk directly support these critical initiatives, helping to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide.

Registration details and additional information about the September 20 walk are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Community members interested in participating, volunteering, or forming teams are encouraged to watch for updates as the event approaches.
