A dramatic overnight incident at a Galloway Township senior living community forced the evacuation of more than 100 residents after a van collided with the building and erupted in flames.
The crash occurred around midnight on Monday, August 3, 2026, outside Ridgewood Senior Living Facility on the 700 block of East Moss Mill Road. Emergency crews responded to find the van partially engulfed in flames near the corner of the building.
Viewer footage captured the intensity of the blaze, which left the vehicle heavily damaged. After firefighters extinguished the flames, a significant portion of the van was completely charred. Rescue teams deployed the Jaws of Life to force open the van's rear doors during their response.
The fire and crash prompted first responders to evacuate more than 100 residents from the facility as a precautionary measure. Facility officials confirmed that all residents have been accounted for and were moved to another section of the community where they remain safe.
"Our team continues to work closely with emergency personnel, and we are grateful for their prompt response and assistance," officials said in a statement, according to 6abc Philadelphia.
Multiple emergency agencies responded to the scene throughout the overnight hours. Authorities have not yet released details about the van driver's condition or what caused the vehicle to crash and catch fire.
The incident remains under active investigation as officials work to determine the circumstances that led to the collision and subsequent fire at the Atlantic County senior living facility.
