Fashion stylist Christy Lee has shared intimate details about her engagement to rapper Post Malone, describing how the musician orchestrated an elaborate proposal that incorporated her exact preferences and surprised her with loved ones at his Utah ranch.
Lee spoke publicly about the engagement for the first time on Friday, August 28, revealing that Post Malone — whose legal name is Austin Richard Post — proposed on August 17. The engagement became public knowledge on August 19 after photographs surfaced showing Lee wearing a substantial diamond ring on her left hand.
The 31-year-old musician began planning months in advance, subtly gathering information about Lee's ring preferences through seemingly casual conversation. "A couple months before the proposal, Austin started casually slipping these very 'hypothetical' questions about rings into conversation, trying to figure out what I liked without giving himself away," Lee told Vogue. "One day, completely out of the blue, he asked me, 'Pear, heart, or cushion?' I told him I'd always thought there was something so chic about an oval."
Lee explained to the "Sunflower" singer that she favored simplicity over elaborate designs, preferring "something very simple, with a delicate, thin gold band" rather than diamonds encircling the entire band. When Post Malone inquired whether a ring could be too large, she "jokingly told him I didn't think so," Lee told Vogue.
The rapper meticulously documented her responses and commissioned a custom engagement ring featuring a 20-plus carat natural oval diamond set on a gold band — precisely matching her described ideal.
"When I saw it, I was honestly speechless," Lee told Vogue. "He had somehow taken all of those little conversations and created exactly what I would have chosen for myself."
The proposal itself formed part of an elaborate week of surprises at the ranch. Post Malone first presented Lee with farm animals including a baby Highland cow, bunnies, and chickens. He then arranged an intimate dinner gathering, secretly inviting Lee's friends and parents to join them at the property.
The group dined at a long table adorned with white florals beneath twinkle lights. As a light rain began falling, the "Pour Me a Drink" singer asked Lee to marry him while standing beneath an arch decorated with greenery and white flowers.
"That's when he proposed," Lee told Vogue, describing the moment as magical. The dinner immediately transformed into an engagement celebration, with one friend producing a "bride to be" sash for Lee to wear during photographs with her new fiancé.
"There was something so special about being at our ranch, surrounded by the people we love most and all of our new little animals," Lee told Vogue. "The whole evening felt incredibly intimate and personal. It was the most special moment of my life."
Lee, who works as a fashion stylist, was first publicly linked to Post Malone in January 2025. She noted the thoughtfulness behind the proposal planning was "incredibly sweet knowing how much thought he put into creating something that felt entirely my own," she told Vogue.
Post Malone was previously engaged to Hee Sung "Jamie" Park, with whom he shares a daughter born in May 2022. That relationship ended in November 2024.
