Houston Rockets forward Tari Eason has filed for a domestic violence restraining order against a woman he previously dated, alleging she assaulted him and destroyed thousands of dollars worth of his personal belongings.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ and filed on Thursday, July 30, 2026, Eason is seeking protection from 32-year-old Marilyn Maritza Melo Rodriguez, whom he identifies as someone he used to date. The petition details multiple alleged incidents involving threats, physical violence, and property damage.
The NBA player claims Rodriguez's friend contacted him with alarming threats, telling him that she would break both of his legs and kill him. Eason stated in the filing that these threats caused him to fear for his personal safety.
In a separate incident detailed in the petition, Eason alleges that Rodriguez's mother called requesting transportation home. After he drove her to the residence, a conversation with Rodriguez allegedly escalated into physical violence. According to the filing, Rodriguez repeatedly struck him in the face with a closed fist.
Following that confrontation, Eason claims Rodriguez returned to his Airbnb rental and took all of his clothes before pouring liquid bleach on them, destroying the items. The petition states the property damage resulted in $92,000 worth of losses in personal property.
The restraining order request asks the court to mandate that Rodriguez maintain distance from multiple locations and items connected to Eason's life and career. Specifically, he is asking that she be ordered to stay away from his residence, workplace, vehicle, and any California arena where the Houston Rockets might compete.
Eason is preparing to enter his fifth season in the NBA. Throughout his professional basketball career, he has averaged 10.4 points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the Rockets.
