The Hollywood Hills home of former National Hockey League player Sean Avery and his wife, model Hilary Rhoda, became the scene of a shooting incident Tuesday afternoon, according to law enforcement sources.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the area shortly before 5:00 PM following a possible shots-fired radio call, according to TMZ. A contractor who was working at the residence when the shooting occurred was present during the incident, though neither Avery nor Rhoda was home at the time.
During the shooting, a tire on the contractor's vehicle was struck by gunfire, sources familiar with the situation told TMZ. Law enforcement sources indicated that no injuries have been reported in connection with the incident.
One person has been taken into custody, according to law enforcement sources. The circumstances that precipitated the shooting remain unclear as the investigation continues.
Avery, who played 13 seasons in the NHL for teams including the New York Rangers, Dallas Stars, and Los Angeles Kings, retired from professional hockey in 2012. He has since pursued various business ventures and maintains a residence in the Hollywood Hills with Rhoda, a prominent fashion model.
