Teen Injured in Dirt Bike Crash at Bargaintown Park

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A Wednesday afternoon ride ended with a trip to the hospital for a 13-year-old dirt bike rider after a car turned into Bargaintown Park and struck the bike on Delaware Avenue, township police said.

Officers from the Egg Harbor Township Police Department were called to Delaware Avenue near the park entrance at 300 Delaware Avenue around 5 PM, according to the department. The juvenile had been riding a 2021 Kawasaki KLX110 westbound along the shoulder of the roadway when a 2013 Chevy Impala driven by 32-year-old Rosaura Velazquez of Pleasantville made a left turn into the park and hit the dirt bike, authorities said.

The 13-year-old's injuries were described as minor. EHT EMS and AtlantiCare Paramedics transported the juvenile to a local hospital. A state police medevac helicopter had initially been requested, but that request was cancelled once EMS crews evaluated the patient at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and traffic summonses against the juvenile are pending its completion, police said.

Ofc. Kevin Brady of the EHTPD Traffic Safety Unit is handling the crash investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call (609) 926-4021.

For our neighbors around Bargaintown Park, the crash is a reminder of how quickly an ordinary afternoon can change — and how much a witness's account can mean to investigators piecing together what happened.
