Matty Healy, the 37-year-old frontman of British rock band The 1975, has married his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel in a ceremony at a historic Hollywood Hills mansion, according to multiple reports.
The wedding took place Saturday, July 18, at Castillo del Lago, the former residence of Madonna from 1993 to 1997. The estate, which gained fame as a filming location for the 1963 horror film House of the Damned, served as the backdrop for the couple's exchange of vows.
Photographs published by JustJared and Extra captured the 37-year-old musician in a black tuxedo and the 28-year-old model in a traditional white gown with a long veil. Images showed the groom dipping his bride for a kiss following their ring exchange.
The celebration drew a notable guest list, according to JustJared, including pop star Charli XCX and her husband George Daniel, who also plays drums in The 1975. Other attendees included influencers Anastasia Karanikolaou and Devon Lee Carlson, as well as model Quenlin Blackwell.
The nuptials come approximately three years after Healy and Bechtel began their relationship. The couple first went public in September 2023 when they were photographed kissing during an outing in New York City.
Engagement speculation emerged in June 2024 when Bechtel posted Instagram Story photographs displaying a distinctive black diamond ring on her left hand. The model captioned one image with "MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT," referencing Charli XCX's album of the same name.
Healy's mother, Denise Welch, confirmed the engagement during a June 2024 appearance on the ITV program Loose Women. She revealed that her son had commissioned a custom black diamond ring for Bechtel and expressed enthusiasm about her future daughter-in-law.
"I couldn't be more thrilled," Welch said on the program. "She's from Los Angeles, she's absolutely gorgeous. She does have a [pet] rat. ... Anyway, we couldn't be happier. She is everything that I would want in a daughter-in-law, and so I'm thrilled."
In recent interviews, Bechtel has offered glimpses into the couple's relationship dynamics. Speaking to E! News in May 2024, she described their shared interests in food and music.
"I think that we just both enjoy good food, honestly," Bechtel told E! News. "He's taught me a lot about food." She also detailed a recent meal she prepared for Healy, which included kale salad with pine nuts, Parmesan, steak, and potato gratin.
The model also hinted at future family plans during a July 2024 interview with British Vogue, stating her intention to prioritize family dinners without phones when she has children. During that same interview, she received a phone call from Healy and reflected on their relationship.
"I love being in love," Bechtel told British Vogue. "When I thought that I was in love before it was just me being a person of service to somebody else."
The wedding follows Healy's previous high-profile relationships, including a brief romance with Taylor Swift in 2023. Swift recently married NFL player Travis Kelce on July 3 in a ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Healy was also previously linked to singer Halsey in 2015, model Gabriella Brooks from 2015 to 2019, and musician FKA Twigs from 2020 to 2022.
Representatives for Bechtel have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the reported marriage.
