Omar Marriage Application Shows Crossed-Out Name Changes

Rep. Ilhan Omar reportedly altered her last name multiple times on her marriage application to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, according to a document described as an allegedly certified copy obtained by The Post and reported by TMZ.com on Friday, October 30, 2026.

The application initially listed the congresswoman's surname as Omar. According to the report, she crossed it out and replaced it with Elmi, then crossed that out as well and restored Omar.

The document's emergence coincides with longstanding allegations that Omar married Elmi in order to help him secure legal immigration status. Omar has previously addressed the claims, telling MS NOW's Chris Hayes that to the best of her knowledge, Elmi is not her brother, and describing the allegations as "insane."

The report does not include a response from Omar's office regarding the application. The allegations and the document's details remain subjects of public dispute, and no independent verification of the application's contents has been presented in the source material.
