Two Charged After Bottle Attack Leaves Victim Unconscious

Our community was shaken this week by a violent assault that left three people injured and one victim unconscious in North Wildwood. Two suspects—including a local teenager—are now facing serious felony charges in connection with the Monday evening attack.

On Monday, June 22, North Wildwood Police Department officers responded to a report of a fight at the intersection of 13th Avenue and Central Avenue. When they arrived at the scene, they discovered three injured adults. One victim had been knocked unconscious after being struck with a bottle during the altercation.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived. All three victims were transported to Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional for medical treatment.

Following an investigation, authorities arrested Alpacino Carrero, 20, of Philadelphia, and a 17-year-old male from West Wildwood. The Cape May Prosecutor's Office announced that both individuals have been charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and second-degree aggravated assault.

The juvenile suspect faces additional charges beyond those filed against Carrero. The teenager has been charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, first-degree robbery, and an additional second-degree aggravated assault charge, according to the prosecutor's office.

Carrero is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility as he awaits court proceedings. The juvenile is detained in a juvenile detention facility. If convicted, both suspects face substantial prison sentences.
