Two Charged After Violent North Wildwood Brawl

Our community is reeling after a violent early-morning brawl in North Wildwood sent three people to the hospital and resulted in serious criminal charges for two suspects.

Alpacino Carrero, 20, of Philadelphia and a 17-year-old boy from West Wildwood were arrested and charged following the incident, according to the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and North Wildwood police.

North Wildwood police responded to the area of 13th Avenue and Central Avenue just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, after receiving reports of a fight in progress. When officers arrived, they discovered three injured adults at the scene. All three victims required hospitalization for their injuries.

The assault was particularly brutal—one victim was struck with a bottle and lost consciousness, authorities said. The severity of the attack underscores the dangerous nature of the confrontation that unfolded in the heart of our shore community.

Both suspects had fled the scene before police arrived, but law enforcement moved quickly. Carrero and the juvenile were taken into custody later that same day.

Both face charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and aggravated assault. The 17-year-old West Wildwood resident faces additional serious charges, including possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, robbery, and an additional count of aggravated assault.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the full circumstances surrounding the violent encounter. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact North Wildwood police or the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office.

This incident serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of public safety in our shore communities, particularly during the busy summer season when our population swells with visitors and seasonal residents.
