Our community is mourning the loss of two young lives following a tragic collision Thursday night in Atlantic City that left both riders of a dirt bike dead.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office reported that a BMW collided with a dirt bike on Route 40 near North Albany Avenue just before 10 p.m., ejecting both riders from the motorcycle. Emergency responders pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the victims as Baseem Taliaferro Jr., 21, of Galloway, and Yasmeen Williams, 21, of Egg Harbor City. The devastating loss has impacted families and friends across South Jersey.
The 20-year-old driver of the BMW remained at the scene. As of Friday morning, police have not announced any charges against the driver, though the investigation remains active and ongoing.
The crash occurred on a busy stretch of Route 40, a major thoroughfare connecting Atlantic City to surrounding communities. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office continues to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
