Wendy Williams Guardian Settles Documentary Lawsuit with A&E

A legal battle over a documentary featuring former talk show host Wendy Williams has come to a close, with her court-appointed guardian reaching a settlement with the network that produced the film.

Sabrina Morrissey, who serves as Williams' guardian, and A&E Television Networks filed court documents on Tuesday indicating they had resolved all outstanding issues in the dispute. The lawsuit has been dismissed as part of the agreement.

The litigation centered on a documentary about Williams that A&E produced and released despite objections from Morrissey. In her original complaint, the guardian argued that the network should not have filmed Williams given her medical condition and sought both an injunction to prevent the documentary's release and monetary damages.

Morrissey's lawsuit characterized Williams as dealing with serious health challenges that left her unable to make informed decisions about her participation in the project. The guardian contended that Williams was rendered incapable of providing meaningful consent to be filmed due to these medical concerns.

A&E Television Networks disputed those claims and proceeded with releasing the documentary despite the legal challenge. The network maintained that the production was appropriate and rejected the guardian's characterization of the situation.

The settlement comes as Williams continues to reside in an assisted living facility. The former television personality has previously attempted to terminate the guardianship arrangement, though those efforts have not succeeded.
