Wildwood Tattoo Beach Bash Draws Artists, Fans to Jersey Shore for Three-Day Convention

WILDWOOD — Tattoo artists, body art enthusiasts and curious visitors are filling the Wildwoods Convention Center this weekend as the annual Wildwood Tattoo Beach Bash returns for three days of live tattooing, competitions, entertainment and vendors.

The 16th annual event, produced by Philadelphia-based Villain Arts, opened Friday and continues through Sunday, transforming the convention center into one of the East Coast's largest gatherings celebrating tattoo culture.

Hosted at the Wildwoods Convention Center, the convention features hundreds of tattoo artists from around the country offering on-site tattoos while showcasing a wide range of artistic styles and techniques. Attendees can also browse vendors selling artwork, clothing, jewelry, tattoo supplies and related merchandise.

Unlike a traditional tattoo shop, the Tattoo Beach Bash is designed as a festival celebrating body art. Visitors can watch tattoo artists work throughout the weekend, attend daily tattoo competitions, and enjoy live entertainment that includes sideshow performances and specialty acts.

The event welcomes both longtime tattoo collectors and first-time visitors. While many attendees schedule appointments in advance with participating artists, walk-up tattoo opportunities are also available, depending on artist availability. Adults must be at least 18 years old with valid government-issued identification to receive a tattoo.

Daily tattoo contests recognize work completed during the convention as well as existing tattoos in a variety of artistic categories. Organizers say the competitions provide artists an opportunity to showcase their work while allowing attendees to see some of the latest trends in tattoo artistry.

Beyond the tattooing, the convention serves as another major summer attraction for the Wildwoods, bringing visitors to local hotels, restaurants and businesses during one of the busiest weekends of the season. The event joins a packed August calendar that includes concerts, sporting events and festivals throughout the island.

According to Villain Arts, show hours continue Sunday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk. Day passes and three-day passes are available for purchase at the door, and admission is free for children under 12 when accompanied by an adult.
