Bronx Man Arrested After Crashing Into Celebrity Estate Gate

Keith Webster, a 63-year-old Bronx resident, was arrested Wednesday, July 15, after crashing his Subaru into a security gate at a Georgica Pond estate owned by entertainers Beyoncé and Jay-Z in East Hampton.

Webster now faces charges of second degree criminal mischief and third degree criminal trespass following the incident, which caused significant damage to the property's security checkpoint.

According to a police report, a security guard witnessed Webster's vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed up the driveway toward the closed mechanical gates. The driver failed to stop, resulting in a collision that substantially damaged the security barrier. It remains unclear whether the property owners were present at the time.

Detective Sgt. Jennifer Dunn of the East Hampton police confirmed Friday that investigators are examining whether a health emergency may have played a role in the crash.

"This could be a health issue but we have to treat it as a crime until proven otherwise," Detective Sgt. Dunn told The East Hampton Star.

Following the collision, Webster initially remained inside his vehicle but eventually complied with instructions to exit. By the time police officers arrived on scene, he had been restrained and was seated in front of his Subaru.

"He wasn't making threats. He seemed confused," Detective Sgt. Dunn told The East Hampton Star.

Webster complained of pain after the incident and was transported to Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department for evaluation. He was subsequently released for arraignment, while police impounded his vehicle pending further investigation.

Investigators utilized license plate reader camera networks to trace Webster's movements prior to the crash. The technology revealed that he had stopped at another residence in the East Hampton area earlier but departed without incident after being turned away.

Detective Sgt. Dunn told Page Six that Webster has no criminal history and that the investigation found no weapons, threatening notes, or direct references to the property's residents. The detective emphasized that Webster's confused state and lack of specific threats suggest the possibility of a medical emergency rather than intentional targeting.

"He seemed confused at the scene and after the arrest," the detective told Page Six. "He did not make any threats or mention names of the residents. It could just be chance he picked that house if he was having a medical issue."

The incident occurred three days after Jay-Z concluded a three-day concert residency at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx on Sunday, July 12. The performances celebrated the 30th anniversary of his Reasonable Doubt album and the 25th anniversary of the Blueprint album, featuring appearances by Beyoncé, their daughter Blue Ivy Carter, and numerous other artists including Eminem, Rihanna, Pharrell Williams, and Usher.

Representatives for Jay-Z and Beyoncé have not yet commented on the security breach. The investigation into Webster's actions and potential medical condition remains ongoing.
