An 18-year-old cheerleader charged in the 2025 murder of her boyfriend is asking the court to loosen the terms of her release so she can pursue what her motion describes as a normal college experience, according to TMZ.com.
Gianna Kistenmacher, one of nine people charged in the shooting death of 16-year-old Trey Wright, filed a motion last month seeking to remove her GPS monitoring and overnight curfew and to allow her access to social media, TMZ.com reported, citing ABC 15 News.
Kistenmacher faces a murder charge in connection with the shooting. Investigators allege that she drove the shooter, Devan Raper, to Trey's house with knowledge that Raper was armed and that a confrontation would occur, according to TMZ.com.
Court TV reported that Trey and Devan had been feuding online over Devan spending time with Gianna, TMZ.com noted. Nine teenagers traveled to Trey's residence, and when Trey approached the vehicle in which Devan was sitting, the 19-year-old fired a shot into his chest, killing him, according to the outlet's account as cited by TMZ.com.
The motion states that Kistenmacher has satisfied every bond condition imposed since her release on July 28, 2025, TMZ.com reported, citing ABC 15 News. She presently attends a local college, and a judge in February ended her house arrest in favor of an overnight curfew, according to the report. The motion seeks permission to apply to additional schools and to reside in a dormitory.
Kistenmacher's attorney has maintained that she did not orchestrate Trey's death and has noted that she traveled to the hospital following the shooting to be with him, TMZ.com reported.
The case remains pending, with the bond modification request now before the court. The outcome will determine whether Kistenmacher may expand her college plans while the murder charge proceeds.
