Friend Reveals Initial Reaction to Nolan Wells Search

The best friend of Nolan Wells has come forward with details about the chaotic hours following the young man's disappearance, revealing that he initially dismissed concerns about Wells' whereabouts as an overreaction.

Warren Hudson provided an account of the evening's events during an appearance on "The Officer Tatum Show" with host Brandon Tatum. According to Hudson, the alarm was first raised around 12:30 AM on July 5, when one of his companions who had returned with him from Horn Island received an urgent phone call. This came several hours after the group had last seen Wells.

Approximately 30 minutes following that initial call, Hudson recounted, roughly 10 individuals burst through the door of the house where he was staying. The group appeared distressed, having been unable to reach Wells.

Hudson stated that among the searchers was someone he recognized from high school. When Hudson stepped outside to speak with this acquaintance, the individual expressed his belief that Wells had likely passed out at someone's residence. Hudson indicated he shared this assessment at the time.

The reasoning behind this initial conclusion stemmed from Wells' condition earlier in the evening. Hudson noted that Wells had become intoxicated, leading him to assume Wells was simply sleeping off the effects of alcohol at an unknown location.

During the search party's arrival, Hudson observed that one member of the group, whom he characterized as a maternal figure, requested access to Wells' phone.

The interview with Tatum has yielded multiple disclosures from Hudson regarding the circumstances surrounding Wells' death. Hudson also addressed his decision not to attend the funeral and claimed that he and other friends had urged Wells to depart Horn Island with them.

Wells' body was discovered two days after he was reported missing. While official authorities have determined that drowning was the cause of death, Wells' family has strongly contested this conclusion. The family has retained attorney Ben Crump, who has publicly challenged the official account of events.

The case has drawn significant attention as questions continue to surround the circumstances of Wells' death and the events leading up to his disappearance from Horn Island.
