Hollywood Hills Burglary Victim May Have Been Squatter

Police are investigating whether a man who reported being robbed and assaulted during a home invasion was actually squatting in a Hollywood Hills residence.

Law enforcement received a call around midnight Thursday from a man claiming five individuals had broken into the home and attacked him, according to KTLA. The alleged victim told authorities the suspects entered the residence armed with a gun.

Police officials stated the intruders remained inside the property for only a few minutes before fleeing in a Jeep. The suspects reportedly made off with a safe and possibly additional belongings from the residence.

Following the incident, the man spoke with KTLA, stating: "I'm the one that got attacked last night trying to save this house."

However, investigators determined the man did not reside at the property and was not serving as a house-sitter. After providing his account to reporters, he departed from the residence. Authorities have not confirmed whether the possible squatter faces any charges in connection with the case.

The burglary occurred just one day after a trespasser breached filmmaker Quentin Tarantino's residence while occupants were inside, an incident known as a "hot prowl" burglary.

The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about residential security in the Hollywood Hills area. Police continue to investigate both cases and are searching for the suspects who fled in the Jeep.
