Karoline Leavitt will remain in President Trump's orbit despite stepping down from her role as White House press secretary, transitioning to a position with MAGA Inc., the super PAC that previously employed her before she joined the administration.
The outgoing press secretary disclosed her plans to work for the Trump-supporting organization, according to NBC News. Her departure from the White House was announced by Trump earlier in August, with Leavitt citing her desire to spend more time at home with her two young children.
Leavitt returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child with real-estate developer Nicholas Riccio in May. On Friday, she told reporters she would miss her White House position but prioritized her children.
Her comments came as she departed Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Friday, where she accompanied Trump and Natalie Harp to a campaign rally for U.S. Senator Darline Graham. The event saw Trump endorsing Graham, though a heckler wearing a shirt with a violent message briefly disrupted the proceedings.
Harp has faced recent scrutiny over her relationship with the president. Earlier this week, her brother, Preston, publicly accused her of maintaining what he characterized as an unhealthy fixation on Trump.
Despite the controversy surrounding Harp, Trump has maintained close working relationships with both women and appears to value their contributions to his political operations. Leavitt's move to MAGA Inc. ensures she will continue playing a role in advancing the president's agenda outside the formal structure of the White House.
