The estate of hip-hop producer Tay Keith is confronting nearly $200,000 in creditor claims, according to court documents reviewed by TMZ.com. The filings arrive months after the producer's death in June and after a probate notice instructed anyone owed money by the estate to step forward.
American Express National Bank submitted two separate claims this week, TMZ.com reported. One seeks approximately $60,000 tied to a Business Platinum account, while the other pursues about $27,000 on a Platinum account.
Bank of America also filed a claim, stating that the estate owes the institution roughly $115,000 in connection with a 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLS. Combined, the creditors are seeking more than $198,000.
Tay Keith left behind a substantial estate that included his music catalog and royalties, bank accounts, a Lamborghini, the Mercedes, real estate and business interests, according to TMZ.com.
The Nashville Medical Examiner determined that the producer died from the toxic effects of ketamine and mitragynine. Mitragynine is an active compound found in kratom, a tree native to Southeast Asia whose compounds affect the brain's opioid receptors.
The claims were filed after a notice published in the probate case invited anyone to whom the producer owed money to come forward. The filings represent the latest development in the administration of an estate that encompasses both significant creative assets and outstanding financial obligations.
