The price tag for hosting a celebrity wedding in New York City has been revealed, and it carries a six-figure cost. Taylor Swift paid over $160,000 to secure the necessary permits for her Madison Square Garden wedding to Travis Kelce, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
"Taylor Swift ... has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event," Mamdani said during a Friday, July 10, press conference when asked about police overtime expenses from the occasion, according to Us Weekly. "That was a permit that was finalized days before the event itself."
The substantial fee covered permits for the July 3 wedding celebration, which required street closures and significant security coordination around the iconic Manhattan venue. Event organizers filed permits to shut down surrounding streets for the gathering, with tents pitched outside the arena to direct and conceal attendee traffic.
Swift and Kelce, both 36, exchanged vows inside Madison Square Garden before approximately 1,000 guests. Following the ceremony, digital billboards outside the venue illuminated with the message "JusT&T Married," marking the public announcement of the union.
The wedding featured high-profile fashion collaborations and celebrity guests. A representative for the Grammy winner released ceremony details via press statement, revealing that both the bride and groom wore Christian Dior Haute Couture designs created by Jonathan Anderson, Creative Director of Dior Women's, Men's and Haute Couture Collections. The designs represented Anderson's first couture wedding dress for a world-renowned celebrity. Custom Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry completed the wedding attire.
The couple eschewed a traditional bridal party structure. Austin Swift served as his sister's "Man of Honor," while Jason Kelce stood as Best Man for his brother Travis. Actor and comedian Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony, which joined both families together.
The guest list included notable figures from entertainment and sports, including Patrick Mahomes, Brad Pitt, Karlie Kloss, Brad Paisley, and Ciara. The singer Ciara described the celebration in glowing terms during a Friday interview with Us Weekly.
"We had the best time," Ciara, 40, exclusively told Us Weekly. "It was a really beautiful, magical night, and I [will] kind of leave it there. I think I'll let Travis and Taylor tell their story of their beautiful wedding whenever they choose to. But I can definitely say it was a really fun night."
The newlyweds have not publicly shared additional details about their wedding day. Donna Kelce, mother of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end, characterized the event as "magical." Kylie Kelce, wife of Jason Kelce, described the occasion as "incredible" earlier this week. The couple's four daughters participated in the ceremony as flower girls.
The permit cost disclosed by Mayor Mamdani provides insight into the logistical expenses associated with hosting a major celebrity event in New York City, where security, street closures, and crowd management require substantial coordination between private organizers and municipal authorities.
