ATLANTIC CITY — A $200,000 renovation of Atlantic City's historic All Wars Memorial Building is moving forward, with improvements planned for the building and its outdoor tennis courts.
City Council approved a $19,500 grant from the United States Tennis Association this month to help refurbish the existing courts outside the building at 1510 Adriatic Ave.
The city's Community Development Block Grant Office will provide the remaining funding needed for the tennis court improvements as part of the larger renovation project.
In addition to the courts, the $200,000 project calls for new flooring, kitchen upgrades and improvements to the building's conference room.
“All Wars Memorial Building means a lot to this city, and we are excited to do something special for our community by continuing to improve this facility,” Mayor Marty Small Sr. said.

Small said the refurbished courts will provide another recreational option for city residents.
“These tennis courts are going to give our residents, especially our youth, another opportunity to spend time outside and be active,” Small said. “I want to thank everyone who worked together to make this investment possible.”
Samantha Kiley of the Midtown Community Development Corporation and AtlantiCare, along with Commander Patricia Tatum of American Legion Post 61, helped bring the USTA grant opportunity to the city's attention.
The All Wars Memorial Building has been a fixture in Atlantic City for more than a century.
The city celebrated the building's 100th anniversary last year with a series of events recognizing its history and importance to the community.
The USTA's Tennis Venue Services Grant program provides funding to renovate existing tennis facilities and develop new courts around the country. The program was expanded in 2025 amid increased participation in the sport.
Atlantic City has also been attempting to introduce more young residents to tennis. The city's Recreation Division held a youth tennis clinic at Altman Park this summer.
The improvements at All Wars Memorial Building will provide another location for residents to play once the court refurbishment is completed.
