While celebrity guests gather at Madison Square Garden for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's reported wedding this weekend, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were spotted far from the festivities in upstate New York.
In photographs published by TMZ on Thursday, July 2, Lively, 38, and Reynolds, 49, were photographed in Lake Placid, New York, nearly 300 miles from Madison Square Garden. The couple attended a horse show at a local farm, where they cheered on their daughter Betty, 6. The pair also share daughters James, 11, and Inez, 9, and son Olin, 3.
The Lake Placid sighting stands in stark contrast to other high-profile celebrities, including Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham, who have been spotted in New York City as Swift and Kelce's rehearsal dinner reportedly commenced.
Multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly last month that Lively did not receive an invitation to Swift and Kelce's wedding, despite the former Gossip Girl actress once sharing a close friendship with the Grammy-winning singer.
"Blake understands why she wouldn't be invited and that it would be a media frenzy," an insider told Us Weekly in June. "She also understands that she and Taylor don't have the same level of friendship they once had. She isn't upset about not being invited, but of course, she would love to be there to support her and Travis."
The friendship between Swift and Lively became strained after Swift was drawn into Lively's legal battle with It Ends With Us director and costar Justin Baldoni. During the high-profile legal proceedings, personal text messages between Swift and Lively were made public. Court documents revealed that Baldoni claimed he was ambushed during a meeting at Lively and Reynolds' New York City penthouse with Swift in attendance. In subsequent text messages, Lively referred to herself as Khaleesi from Game of Thrones and called Swift one of her "dragons."
Lively and Baldoni, 42, reached a settlement out of court last month after an 18-month legal dispute.
Prior to their strained relationship, Lively and Swift maintained a close bond. Swift served as godmother to three of Lively's four children. After Swift began dating Kelce in summer 2023, the couple spent time with Lively and Reynolds, including a double date at The Corner Store in New York City in October 2024.
Swift and Kelce are reportedly set to marry at Madison Square Garden over the July 4 holiday weekend, with celebrations expected to span multiple days.
