Influencer Jen Hamilton Addresses 'Undercover Opp' Following Marriage Split

Labor and delivery nurse Jen Hamilton took to Instagram on Wednesday, July 22, to address the turbulent period surrounding both her professional triumph and personal upheaval, calling out what she described as an "undercover OPP" who disrupted her ability to celebrate her bestselling book.

The 35-year-old influencer posted a video set to Cardi B's "Hello – Beat," featuring herself holding a copy of her book Birth Vibes before cutting to her dancing for the camera. In the accompanying caption, Hamilton revealed the emotional toll of having her literary achievement overshadowed by personal drama.

"I hit #1 [on the New York Times] Best Seller List and then an undercover OPP in my life hijacked this special time in my life with some bulls*** so I couldn't even market the book I had worked so hard on for the last few years," Hamilton wrote via Instagram, declining to identify the individual by name.

Hamilton declared her intention to reclaim lost time, writing: "I'm back. This is me making up for all that lost time the best/only way I know how. [Birth Vibes] is really good. It's for pregnant people, moms, dads, sisters, nurses, doulas, doctors, midwives, or anyone who loves stories of human compassion."

Her memoir, Birth Vibes: Stories and Strategies for an Empowered Birth, draws from her extensive experience as a labor and delivery nurse. The book was released on May 5, coinciding with the emergence of speculation regarding difficulties in her marriage to estranged husband Brian.

The couple, who share two sons named Ellis and Luke, publicly confirmed their separation on June 15 through a joint statement. The announcement emphasized their commitment to maintaining respect and cooperation despite the dissolution of their marriage.

"Yes, we are separating," their initial statement read, according to Us Weekly. "This comes with enormous pain for the both of us but also gratitude for the 15 years of shared history, love, and friendship. What we are committed to is loving each other well through this transition and placing the wellbeing of the family we created at the center."

The statement continued: "We are hoping our paths diverging in physical location will make space and room for mental healing for the other. We still are committed to being a team. We even wrote this together (and without chatgpt). We both want to be very clear. This wasn't about falling out of love. That's why this is so devastating. It was about recognizing that sometimes the most loving thing you can do is give someone space to figure out complex things. And that's exactly what we are doing."

Following the announcement, Hamilton revealed on June 29 that she had temporarily stepped away from her nursing career to process the separation. She explained her reasoning in candid terms, stating: "My patients do not deserve the mental state that I would bring to the bedside right now. One moment, I'm OK. The next moment, I'm not OK."

At that time, Hamilton expressed continued support for her estranged husband's personal growth. "Even after everything that has happened, I have no animosity, no ill will. I want him to find himself," she told TikTok viewers in June, according to Us Weekly. "I want him to be the bestest version of himself that he's ever been. I'm gonna be his biggest cheerleader as he is on that journey."

Hamilton added: "I'm also going to be my biggest cheerleader. I am going to model for my children what it means to have healthy relationships, healthy self-worth and allowing those that we love the very most in this world to accept and embrace the gift that is accountability and consequence for the decisions that we make in this life."

More recently, Hamilton posted content suggesting deeper revelations about her marriage. Text overlaying one video read: "Me crying for weeks about a man I was loyal to for 15 years who wanted everyone but me." The clip then transitioned to show her opening her eyes as additional text appeared: "Remembers … I'm a #1 NYT [New York Times] Best Selling Author with the phattest ass … I am not worthless."

On Tuesday, Hamilton disclosed that she initially questioned whether she could survive the emotional trauma of the split. "There were a few moments I didn't know if I was going to live, OK? As you find out new information, that feeling of not being able to live gets pretty strong," she acknowledged, according to Us Weekly.

Hamilton credited what she calls her "five Ms" with helping her navigate this difficult period: "meditation," "meds," a "mentorship," "mingling," and "Megan Thee Stallion." She encouraged her followers facing their own challenges, saying: "The stuff that is going on in your life, you did not ask for. You didn't ask for any of this stuff. But not only are you taking what has been shoved up your butt, but you're also doing life. Because you have to. You may be able to distract me from my joy [but] you cannot have it."

The influencer has also found joy in redecorating her living space. "One thing I've enjoyed is feminizing my house," she shared via Instagram on Wednesday while showcasing new floral wallpaper.

Hamilton and Brian were married for 14 years before announcing their separation in June.
