Jana Kramer has offered a spirited defense of Adam Sandler following his role as officiant at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding last week, drawing on her personal experience working alongside the comedian to explain why the choice was more fitting than critics might assume.
Speaking on the Friday, July 10, episode of her Whine Down podcast on iHeartRadio, the 42-year-old actress addressed the public reaction to Sandler's involvement in the high-profile ceremony at Madison Square Garden.
"I will say [on] the Adam Sandler piece of things, I met him a million years ago," Kramer told Us Weekly. "I did that movie Click with him, because everyone was like, 'Oh, that's an interesting choice.'"
The One Tree Hill alum explained that the 59-year-old comedian presents a markedly different persona behind the scenes than his boisterous on-screen characters might suggest. While audiences know Sandler for his energetic, comedic performances, Kramer discovered a more reserved and thoughtful individual during their time working together.
"A lot of comedians you think they're going to be these very outwardly kind of crazy and wild, [and] he was so soft spoken," she said, according to Us Weekly. "You know what I mean? Sweet and quiet."
Kramer recalled being surprised by the contrast between Sandler's public image and his actual demeanor on set. She had anticipated encountering someone similar to his iconic Happy Gilmore character, known for explosive outbursts and physical comedy. "I remember watching him on set and just being like, 'Wow.' I always envisioned Adam Sandler as like Happy Gilmore," she recalled, referring to the film character that became synonymous with the actor's comedic brand.
The actress noted that Sandler demonstrates considerable thoughtfulness in his interactions. He is "very intentional when he speaks," she observed, a quality she has witnessed consistently over the years.

"It almost does make sense to me now because he does have that sentimental [personality] like he's just such a sweet man," Kramer said, according to Us Weekly. "He really is, and he's a good man. So I could see him being really funny, but then also really grounded and sentimental."
The connection between Sandler and the newlyweds extends beyond casual acquaintance. Kelce, 36, appeared in a small role in Sandler's upcoming film Happy Gilmore 2. Additionally, Sandler appeared on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce, where he revealed his entire family's devotion to Swift's music.

"Taylor in our house, every tune, they knew every word," Sandler shared. "I loved listening to her in the car. I love what she had to say, every message, every melody, just the production, how cool she was, what she meant to young girls, what she means to women, what she means to guys doing the right thing in life."
