Marcellus Wiley Served Restraining Order Documents at Disney World

Former NFL defensive lineman Marcellus Wiley received court documents from his estranged wife at Walt Disney World Resort this week, marking the latest development in an escalating legal dispute between the couple.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, a process server delivered Annemarie Wiley's request for a domestic violence restraining order to Marcellus Wiley, 51, on Wednesday, July 8, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The complex, which features a 9,500-seat stadium, a state-of-the-art indoor arena, two field houses, and multiple professional-level fields, is located within the Walt Disney World Resort.

The circumstances that brought Marcellus Wiley to the venue remain unclear, though the former athlete has professional ties to the location. He worked at ESPN from 2007 until 2018, serving as a studio analyst for First Take and NFL Live. ESPN is part of the extended Disney family of companies.

Court documents indicate Marcellus Wiley was also served with a notice of court hearing, request for child custody and visitation orders, and additional legal paperwork related to the ongoing proceedings.

The legal actions stem from events that unfolded over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Marcellus Wiley was arrested on July 4 for his alleged role in an altercation with Annemarie Wiley, 42, during a stay at a Marriott hotel in Florida. The couple, who married in June 2014 and share three children together, have been at the center of intensifying legal proceedings since the incident.

Two days after the arrest, Annemarie Wiley filed for divorce from Marcellus Wiley in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their separation. Simultaneously, she filed a request for a domestic violence restraining order.

In court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Annemarie Wiley accused her estranged husband of a "continuing and escalating pattern of physical violence, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse, financial control and intimidation, much of which our children have witnessed."

A judge granted Annemarie Wiley a temporary restraining order against Marcellus Wiley. The former NFL professional has been ordered to stay away from Annemarie Wiley and their three children until a July 24 hearing regarding the protective order. That hearing is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, according to the calendar.

Marcellus Wiley addressed the allegations publicly on Tuesday, July 7, in a statement posted via X. He denied what he characterized as "baseless claims" and stated he is "prepared to address these allegations and related matters through the legal process and with evidence."

"My focus remains on my children, my integrity and the truth," Marcellus Wiley added in his statement.

The court has also ordered both parties to participate in mediation regarding custody and visitation arrangements for their three children. The mediation process will run concurrent with the ongoing legal proceedings.

Representatives for both Marcellus Wiley and Annemarie Wiley have not responded to requests for comment regarding the service of documents at the Disney World complex.
