Margaret Qualley and Jack Antonoff Separate After Three Years

Margaret Qualley has initiated a separation from her husband, music producer Jack Antonoff, after three years of marriage, according to new reports detailing the breakdown of their relationship.

"It happened recently, but they have been having issues for the last few years. Margaret initiated the separation," a source told Us Weekly. "Both of their busy schedules and distance were factors, along with many other things like lack of trust in the marriage."

The separation marks the end of a relationship that began in 2021, when the 31-year-old actress and the 42-year-old Bleachers frontman started dating. The couple became engaged in 2022 and married in New Jersey in 2023.

According to the source, trust issues between both parties made their relationship difficult to sustain. "They were still trying to work on the marriage a few months ago, but it ultimately wasn't working," the source told Us Weekly. "At some point, the rose-colored glasses came off for Margaret, and she felt she needed to take a step back."

The music producer had reportedly confided in friends about the challenges in his marriage. Antonoff "had expressed to friends" that "it was difficult being married and that there were struggles" in the relationship, according to the source.

People magazine first reported the separation on Wednesday, July 8. The split became the subject of public speculation after Antonoff attended Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding in New York City on Friday, July 3, without Qualley by his side.

Further fueling speculation, Qualley removed wedding photos from her social media accounts, though the exact timing of the deletions remains unclear. Meanwhile, Antonoff has been photographed still wearing his wedding ring in recent public appearances.

The couple's last public appearance together was at the 2026 Grammy Awards in February. At that time, Qualley had spoken about her relationship with Antonoff in a Vanity Fair cover story, though the publication noted she appeared reluctant to discuss her husband.

"I've always been very love-oriented," Qualley told Vanity Fair in February. "I've always been looking for my person, and I met Jack."

Just months earlier, Antonoff had spoken warmly about their wedding during a December 2023 appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers. "Someone told me that when you die and when you get married is the only time everyone you love is in a room," Antonoff said of the "really beautiful" ceremony. "And I was like, 'Oh, that is just a thing someone says, and I perform for a living so I don't mind if the attention is on me.' And then as soon as it started, my whole body became wet."

Despite the separation, the couple has not yet filed for divorce, according to sources. Representatives for both Qualley and Antonoff have not responded to requests for comment.
