Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Annemarie Wiley has filed for divorce from her husband of twelve years, Marcellus Wiley, following his arrest on domestic violence battery charges over the Fourth of July weekend.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Annemarie Wiley, 42, filed for divorce from Marcellus Wiley, 51, in Los Angeles on Monday, July 6, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple married on June 18, 2014.
The divorce filing comes just two days after Marcellus Wiley was arrested on Saturday, July 4, following an alleged altercation with his wife at a Marriott hotel in Florida. The former NFL player was taken into custody after police determined there was sufficient evidence to establish probable cause for domestic violence battery charges.
In her witness statement to police, Annemarie Wiley reported that Marcellus Wiley threatened to kill her after putting his hands on her. She also alleged that he used one finger to poke her in the cheek in front of one of their daughters on the morning before the alleged threat. The Beverly Hills nurse anesthetist told officers that her husband had an unreported history of violence toward her and that she planned to divorce him upon returning to California.
Marcellus Wiley denied the allegations, but authorities proceeded with the arrest based on the evidence gathered during their investigation.
The court issued a no contact order against Marcellus Wiley on Sunday, July 5, prohibiting him from contacting Annemarie Wiley and requiring him to stay at least 500 yards away from her, their marital residence, and her place of employment in Beverly Hills. The conditions of his release also prohibit him from possessing weapons or firearms and mandate that he maintain a separate residence from his estranged spouse. He is permitted to return to their home one time with a police escort to collect his belongings.
In her divorce filing, Annemarie Wiley is seeking legal and physical custody of the couple's three children: son Marcellus Jr., 10, and daughters Ariya, 7, and Alivia, 6. She is requesting no visitation rights for her estranged husband at this time. Marcellus Wiley also has a daughter named Morocca from a previous relationship.
Additionally, Annemarie Wiley filed a request for a domestic violence restraining order against Marcellus Wiley, asking the court to extend protection to her children as well. In her declaration, she accused him of a "continuing and escalating pattern of physical violence, sexual abuse, verbal and emotional abuse, financial control and intimidation, much of which our children have witnessed."
The divorce petition also includes requests for spousal support and coverage of attorney fees.
The arrest stands in stark contrast to a recent Father's Day post Marcellus Wiley shared on Instagram last month, in which he praised his family. The post read: "My greatest blessings call me Dad. ❤️Morocca, Marcellus Jr., Ariya, and Alivia — thank you for giving my life its deepest purpose and greatest joy." He concluded the message by thanking Annemarie Wiley for their children.
Annemarie Wiley joined The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as a full-time cast member during Season 13 but was not asked to return for another season. During her time on the show, she defended her husband after he faced accusations of being transphobic for stating that transgender female athletes do not belong in women's sports. She also defended him after he publicly rated her appearance as an 8.5 out of 10.
Neither Annemarie Wiley nor Marcellus Wiley has publicly commented on the arrest or divorce filing at this time.
