Reality television personality Thais Ramone has retained a team of attorneys to represent her interests in a contentious divorce and custody dispute with her estranged husband Patrick Mendes, according to a press release issued on Wednesday, June 17.
The couple, who appeared on multiple seasons of the TLC reality series 90 Day Fiancé, are engaged in a legal battle over custody of their three-year-old daughter, Aleesi. Mendes, 36, filed for divorce in May after four years of marriage to Ramone, who is originally from Brazil.
"Let me be clear: Thais has rights, and those rights will be protected," immigration attorney Kathleen Martinez stated in the press release. "No one should ever be made to feel powerless because of their immigration status, and no one should be bullied into silence. My team and I will vigorously defend Thais' interests and ensure she is treated fairly every step of the way."
The legal proceedings have escalated rapidly since the initial divorce filing. Court documents indicate that Mendes requested sole legal custody and primary physical custody of the couple's daughter. In response, Ramone, 30, has assembled a legal team that includes Martinez and Las Vegas family attorney Carmen Marisol.
"Based on the information currently available, we are confident that the evidence will demonstrate that Thais is a loving, capable, and devoted mother," Marisol said in the press release. "We look forward to presenting the facts and ensuring her rights are fully protected throughout this process."
The custody dispute has taken on added complexity due to immigration considerations and the timeline of legal filings. On Monday, June 15, Mendes filed for a default summary disposition, which came 25 calendar days after Ramone was served with divorce papers. Under Nevada state law, respondents have 21 calendar days to respond to such filings after being served.
According to the June filing, the couple's daughter has been splitting time between both parents since early May, spending approximately four to five days per week with her father and three to four days with her mother. The arrangement reflects the ongoing negotiations over custody and parenting time.
Ramone has also enlisted the support of Dominique Enchinton, founder and chief executive officer of Dominton Talent House, who is serving as her talent manager during this period. Enchinton emphasized the importance of dignity and fairness in the proceedings.
"Thais deserves the opportunity to live in peace, raise her child, and move forward with dignity," Enchinton stated on Wednesday. The legal team indicated that Ramone retained counsel specifically to respond to Mendes's efforts to obtain a default judgment, ensuring she would be fully represented through appropriate legal channels. Her attorneys stated they remain focused on achieving a fair resolution while prioritizing stability and the best interests of the child.
The couple first gained public attention through their appearance on season nine of 90 Day Fiancé, a reality series that follows international couples navigating the K-1 visa process. They subsequently appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After and are currently featured on season three of 90 Day: The Last Resort, which continues to air on TLC.
The case highlights the intersection of family law, immigration status, and public scrutiny that can complicate divorce proceedings, particularly when one party is a foreign national.
